Exterior Shell
The 6x12 skip planed Western Red Cedar logs, gables and dovetail corners arrive precut. Builders set all the exterior walls first.
Dormer Preparation
Support rafters are in place, ready to receive the dormer walls which will close the empty space.
Dormer Materials
The shed dormer shown receives an application of Tyvek prior to its log siding.
Side Exterior with Foundation
The log is cut in a Flat/Flat profile. The client’s decision to skip plane these logs, creates a rustic, hand-hewn appeal. The log courses shown here are stacked atop a Superior Wall Foundation.
Front Porch
The 8x43 front porch provides the perfect retreat for relaxing outdoors. Take note of the board and batten siding choice on the home’s dormers.
Side Exterior
With Andersen 400 Series windows in place and trim applied, the home’s shell is almost complete.
View from the Loft
An impressive 16”x22’ hand peeled tree post provides the main support for the loft and roof, bringing much character to the home. Note the R-19 fiberglass insulation in the upper left hand corner of the photo. This shows a corner of a dormer, where standard stick-built construction was used to lighten the load of the dormer on the home’s roof. The dormers are therefore, insulated and then sided with the client’s choice of materials and profiles.
